Features of Polydextrose Powder (Type II)


Polydextrose powder has good water solubility and can prepare aqueous solutions with concentrations up to 80%. It is insoluble in ethanol but partially soluble in glycerol and propylene glycol.


Polydextrose powder has good stability. In the laboratory, polydextrose powder was observed under exposed conditions of 25°C, 45°C and 60°C and could be stored stably for more than 90 days.


Polydextrose powder can be used as a wetting agent to prevent or slow down the adverse changes of moist food, making the food neither dehydrated nor absorb water.


Polydextrose powder is a product of random polymerization. It has many types of glycosidic bonds and a complex molecular structure. It is difficult to be digested and utilized by humans or animals, so it has low calories.
