What is dextrin?

Table of Content [Hide]

Starch is a complex carbohydrate, mainly composed of sugar molecules. Starch mainly exists in plants, especially many of our carbohydrates in most human diets. Hydrolysis is a process that uses water to decompose molecules into small molecules. In short, the starch is decomposed by adding water, and the smaller sugar produced is called dextrin. Generally white or light yellow powder, soluble in water, without peculiar smell, slightly sweet taste.

    Types of dextrin

Dextrin come in several different types: typical white dextrin, yellow or canary dextrin, or British gum. They are water-soluble solutions and usually have a lower viscosity than the starch from which they are derived, such as potatoes or wheat. Dextrin has several different uses. One of the most popular is the adhesives industry. Because of its water solubility, dextrin is ideal for water-activated adhesives and glues. In the textile industry, glucan is also used to print on cotton fabrics! White dextrin is used alone in the food industry. These are usually produced by the combination of acid and water in the hydrolysis process.

    The health benefits of dextrin

A high-fiber diet has been linked to a number of health benefits, including weight loss, better skin health, higher bone density and lower cholesterol. Fiber is considered a natural antidote, and most cancers are associated with toxic internal environments, so in some cases fiber may reduce the risk of developing cancer. Fiber keeps your bowel movements regular. It also speeds up digestion, allowing what you eat to flow smoothly through your system from start to finish. Fiber also allows your body to absorb nutrients more smoothly and helps remove harmful substances without letting them linger in your system for too long.

In addition to being an amazing source of fiber, dextrin is also a prebiotic. You may have heard of probiotics, and these probiotics feed on prebiotics, so by consuming dextrin, you can improve the health and effectiveness of probiotics, which helps with digestive issues and helps maintain homeostasis in the stomach!

In fact, dextrin can help almost every system in your body function more properly. It can help you avoid poisonings and negative environments. If you're not sure where to get more dextrin, try fiber supplements such as corn dextrin or maltodextrin.
