Resistant maltodextrin syrup (tapioca) was approved as a general food by the Ministry of Health of China in 2012; in 2018, the US FDA included several fibers, including resistant dextrin, in dietary nutrition labels after a two-year inspection. Resistant maltodextrin has been widely used in health foods for people with diabetes and constipation, and in foods for infants and young children.
