Oligofructose, a very good water-soluble dietary fiber

Table of Content [Hide]

Fructooligosaccharides, abbreviated as FOS in English, are also called fructo-oligosaccharides. They are a type of prebiotic, a functional oligosaccharide, and a very good water-soluble dietary fiber. When we take oligofructose, it will be used by the beneficial bacteria in the body to promote the proliferation of beneficial bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactic acid bacteria, inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, and promote the balance of microecology.

Oligofructose has the property of absorbing water and swelling, which allows feces to absorb water to increase its volume, promote feces formation, and make the texture soft; at the same time, oligofructose cannot be broken down by digestive enzymes in the human body, nor will it be digested and absorbed by the stomach and small intestine. It can directly enter the large intestine and then continuously ferment to produce organic acids, lowering the intestinal pH, stimulating intestinal peristalsis, and making bowel movements smooth and convenient.

Oligofructose is not absorbed by the human digestive system, and will not be broken down into small molecular monosaccharides such as glucose in the body after taking it, so it will not cause the sugar value to increase, and people who are afraid of sugar can also eat it.

In life, the main food sources of oligofructose include rye, barley, onion, garlic, Jerusalem artichoke, banana, etc. Among them, Jerusalem artichoke and onion powder have the highest content, followed by green onion, wheat germ, garlic, etc. You can eat more! At the same time, we can also directly consume the purified oligofructose syrup, 15-20ml a day can achieve a good effect of intestinal maintenance. Oligofructose is a safe prebiotic for all ages and can be directly added to infant formula for consumption.
